In 2019, wisdom researchers from around the world, gathered in Toronto to create the Toronto wisdom, task force. Their goal was simple - combine their models to understand what wisdom is.
So what is wisdom?What did they find?
Well there are still some unanswered questions and a lot of unknowns, but in short, wisdom is “Morally-Grounded Perspectival Metacognition”
Translation? Wisdom is something like our perspective-taking ability. And that’s exactly what Freestyle Socials are designed to help us get better at.
You can read the paper yourself here. To be honest, although there are some good reasons to think Freestyle Socials might help, we’re not sure if they do yet. That’s why we’re running a study to find out. And you can participate by taking the Wiz Quiz! Once now and then again in at least 2 weeks after you play the game. It’s not a perfect way to measure it, but it’s a start. Plus it’s fun and easy.
Curiosity: We all have blind spots in our thinking that are, by definition, invisible to us. Look for yours.
Collaboration: The best way to find your blind spots? Talk to people who see things differently.
Calm: Don't be intimidated by your blind spots. Enjoy 'em (we're all a work in progress).
Creativity: Mix, match, combine and play with your blind spots. Expand what's possible.
Compassion: Act like others' suffering matters as much as yours.
Courage: Practice these even when it's uncomfortable.
